Our articles and harvest explorer offer general editorial information, not individualized instruction, a guarantee of identification or permission to harvest. Seasons vary, conditions change and information can become outdated. Before a trip, check the current rules for the exact location and species, including land access, protected-area restrictions, permits and shellfish closures. Respect Indigenous protocols and private property. Follow current advice from the responsible authorities and qualified local experts.
Wild foods can be dangerous when misidentified, contaminated or improperly handled. Never eat an uncertain specimen. Marine biotoxins may not be removed by cooking. You are responsible for your own decisions, equipment and safety in the field. If you suspect poisoning, contact a poison centre or emergency services promptly. Nothing on this site replaces professional medical advice.

References to products, regions and producer practices are provided for information. They do not guarantee availability, certification, opening hours or the quality of a particular item. Contact businesses directly before travelling or buying. The explorer describes seasonal possibilities, not a live inventory or a prediction of a particular harvest.
